FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a cold-curing acryl composition for many metallographic molds for producing a metallographic shell. Composition has a solid part stable during storage and a liquid part stable during storage. Parts work to form a mixture which is polymerised into a solid mass when parts are mixed together. Solid part contains polymer powder and an initiator, and the liquid part contains an acrylic monomer and, optionally, an activator or an accelerator. Initiator is present in an amount effective for polymerisation of the acrylic monomer component when mixed with the liquid part. Composition contains a single-functional acrylic monomer containing a side cyclic ester group. Liquid part of the composition can contain a mixture of a monofunctional monomer (monomers) and a multifunctional monomer (monomers), where the multifunctional monomers form 12–22 wt. % of all monomers in the uncured composition. Invention also covers metallographic shells and methods of shells production.
EFFECT: technical result is providing a combination of desired characteristics for metallography, such as fast curing, hardness and transparency, combined with low odour, ease of use and transparency.
