SUBSTANCE: steering wheel assembly includes a carcass and a plurality of outer shell sections. Each of the outer sections of the shell includes an inner layer, an intermediate layer and an outer layer and has a mating part or a corresponding outer section of the shell. Frame can include a hub, a generally U-shaped rim and at least two spokes connecting the hub and a generally U-shaped rim. First layer of each of the multiple external sections of the shell includes a ledge that extends into and corresponds to a common U-shaped rim. Intermediate layer of each of multiple external sections of shell is molded above inner layer. Each of the plurality of external sections of the shell and its conjugated part are engaged.
EFFECT: simplified manufacturing and servicing.
