FIELD: chemical or physical processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device for determining direction of movement of electrolyte in an aluminum electrolysis cell. Device comprises a blade turning under action of moving electrolyte forces, fixed on a bent rod, on upper horizontal end of which there is a cone with possibility of its immersion into a conical recess of the plate located on the device holder, wherein the rod is made with U-shaped bend in its upper horizontal part and with shift of center of gravity in its lower part strictly in vertical position. Device is configured to fix the position of the rod using a screw located on the handle-holder of the device, wherein the blade, cone, rod and plate-holder are made from nonmagnetic materials.
EFFECT: elimination of influence of electromagnetic forces occurring in electrolysis cell on accuracy of determination of electrolyte motion direction and reduction of friction forces arising at blade rotation.
