FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of super-hard ceramic materials - aluminium-magnesium borides (AMB) and can be used for application of hardening coatings on cutting and blades tools. Method of producing super-hard ceramic powdered material AlMgB14 method includes, in self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) mode, a reaction mixture of powders of aluminium, magnesium, boron in ratio 1:(1.05÷1.2):14 using a chemical stove, which is an exothermic mixture of titanium and soot at ratio of 1:(0.75÷0.8). Heat release of combustion reaction of chemical furnace is sufficient for SHS flow in reaction mixture. Process is carried out at pressure 1.0–1.5 MPa in argon medium. Reaction mixture and chemical stove weight ratio is 1:3. Method is carried out in argon medium at pressure 1.0÷1.5 MPa. Invention is aimed at reduction of energy consumption, synthesis time, at that using simple equipment allows to produce porous easily ground to particle size of less than 1 mcm product.
EFFECT: method provides high quality thereof (hardness H = 28 GPa) owing to higher completeness of reaction of components.
