FIELD: powder metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method for producing refractory materials by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis. Can be used for the manufacture of cutting tools, refractory and wear-resistant products, targets for magnetron deposition of composite coatings. An exothermic mixture containing titanium, zirconium and carbon black powders at a component ratio, wt.%: titanium - 32-48, zirconium - 35.35-53, and carbon black - 15-16.65 prepared in two stages. First, titanium and zirconium powders are mixed in hexane in a planetary ball mill for 5-20 minutes, and then carbon black is added to the resulting mixture and mixed additionally for 3-5 minutes. The resulting mixture is dried, and a blank is formed from it. The resulting blank is placed in a mixture of chemical oven powders, while the blank and the mixture are separated by layers of graphite foil. The SHS reaction is initiated to produce a hot product, and the hot SHS product is compacted under pressure. After separating the combustion products of the chemical oven from the SHS product, hot isostatic pressing is carried out in an argon atmosphere at the pressure of 160-200 MPa and the temperature of 1500-1600 °C for 60-150 minutes.
EFFECT: improved crack resistance and compressive strength.
