SUBSTANCE: invention relates to non-destructive testing of the technical condition of the wheels of the rolling stock in the process of movement. According to the method of monitoring the technical condition of the wheels, acoustic emission signals of a rotating wheel pair on the right and left rails of the railway track are received. Handle signals with a signal processing system. According to the results of the analysis of the obtained data, the technical condition of the wheels is judged. Acoustic emission signals are received continuously throughout the entire composition en route. Electromagnetic-acoustic transducers (EMAT) are used as acoustic emission transducers. EMAT set at the beginning and end of the rolling stock with a gap relative to the corresponding rail.

EFFECT: as a result, the reliability is increased and the monitoring system of the technical condition of rolling stock wheels is simplified.
