FIELD: defectoscopy.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for determination of local defects of railway rails rolling surface. Essence of the invention consists in the fact that continuous measurement of signals of acoustic emission of contacting surfaces in the zone of wheel-rail, from the measured amplitude values of acoustic emission signals determining presence and length of local defects of the surface of railway rails, which is proportional to linear speed of wheel movement and inversely proportional to duration of acoustic-emission signal.

EFFECT: increase of reliability and efficiency of rail track condition diagnostics, possibility of flaw localization.
