FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the diagnosis of railway track conditions. According to the method for determining the geometric parameters of the railway joints, the emission values of all maximum amplitudes of the acoustic emission signals in the frequency band from 30 to 300 kHz are measured at equal consecutive intervals with a sampling frequency of 500 to 0.1 mcs from the sensors (converters) installed on the body of the right and left axle boxes of the locomotive or wagon wheel pair. According to the measured amplitude values of acoustic emission signals, the size of the gap between the joined rails is judged.

EFFECT: as a result, the reliability and efficiency of diagnostics of the state of the joints of the railway increases.
