FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of wear-resistant coating for cutting tools. Method includes vacuum-plasma application of coating of nitride or carbonitride of titanium, aluminium, silicon, zirconium and molybdenum at a ratio of, wt. %: titanium 56.15, aluminium 9.74, silicon 0.91, zirconium 29.08, molybdenum 4.12, by means of three cathodes located horizontally in one plane, first of which is made of titanium and silicon alloy, second one is made of titanium and aluminium alloy and located opposite to first cathode, and third one is made of zirconium and molybdenum and arranged between first and second cathodes.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of cutting tool with applied coating.
