SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing chitosan derivatives, which can be used to create carriers for drug delivery to epithelial cells of barrier organs and tissues, as well as for producing fluorescent samples for marking cell membranes in medical and pharmaceutical industry. Disclosed is a method of producing chitosan derivatives for visualizing cell membranes and creating drug delivery systems with high mucoadhesion, involves modification of chitosan by alkylation in the presence of glycidyl trimethylammonium chloride followed by dialysis and lyophilic drying of the product and attachment of a fluorescent label thereto, and is characterized by that chitosan with 20 kDa and 98 % SD is first acylated with capronic anhydride, alkylated, and then fluorescein isothiocyanate is added.

EFFECT: disclosed is a novel method which enables to obtain a low-toxic chitosan derivative with high affinity for cell membranes.
