SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of biochemistry, in particular to a method for delivering macromolecules selected from nucleic acids, proteins or nucleoprotein complexes to a plant cell. Method comprises providing a plant cell having a cell wall, coating a surface of a 600–800 nm chitosan nanoparticle with a nucleic acid, a protein or a nucleoprotein complex, bringing the plant cell having the cell wall and said coated nanoparticle into contact with each other and allowing the said nanoparticle to be absorbed into the plant cell containing the cell wall.

EFFECT: invention allows efficient delivery of macromolecules selected from nucleic acids, proteins or nucleoprotein complexes to a plant cell having a cell wall, with the possibility of subsequent reprogramming of plant cells and/or editing their genome.
