SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to agents for treating an infection caused by gastrointestinal bacteria. Disclosed is use of statistical copolymer GAS914:

where n is average degree of polymerisation, x is fraction of glycosylated monomer; and 1-x - fraction of monomer with terminal blocking structure in form of thioglycerine, in prevention or treatment in an individual of infection caused by gastrointestinal bacteria, and which is observed in blood, heart, cardiovascular system, liver, lung, respiratory tract, kidney, urinary tract, central nervous system, skin, subcutaneous tissues or surgical wounds. Also disclosed is composition and use thereof in preventing or treating an individual with gastrointestinal tract infection.
EFFECT: group of inventions provides an effective antibacterial agent.
