FIELD: optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of optoelectronic equipment and can be used in laser location systems, optoelectronic countermeasures systems, as well as protection systems of optoelectronic devices from powerful laser radiation. Method of reducing effective scattering area (ESR) of optoelectronic device (OEP) is based on application of light-absorbing coating on reflecting surfaces of shaping optics of OEP and absorption of part of local optical radiation, measurement of slope value K of output signal of photoreceiver of OEP and comparison with threshold value Kn, if K≥Kn, then product of steepness K of output signal of photodetector OEP and the local optical radiation absorption value outside the perimeter of the reflecting surface for calculating the required reflectance surface illumination change value, changing illumination of the reflecting surface to the required value and absorbing part of the local optical radiation outside the reflecting surface.
EFFECT: invention reduces the ESR to the required level.
