SUBSTANCE: invention relates to lighting systems. Result is achieved by the fact that in the lighting system, from the plurality of sensors connected to the flexible lighting device, one or more signals indicating the shape formed by the flexible substrate of the flexible lighting device can be obtained. Based on said one or more signals emitted by the plurality of sensors, one or more lengths of the flexible lighting device can be detected along said one or more axes. One or more light-emitting diodes (or, more generally, light sources) arranged along said one or more axes of the flexible lighting device can be excited to emit light having one or more light characteristics selected based on the detected one or more lengths.

EFFECT: technical result is providing means for independent control of separate light sources or groups of light sources, as well as for adaptive control of light emission based on one or more lengths of flexible substrate.
