What is presented is using cabergoline as an active agent of a pharmaceutical composition for treating eye diseases caused by a high level of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), in which the eye disease is selected from a group comprising diabetic macular edema, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal central artery occlusion, retinal vein occlusion and choroidal neovascularization.

EFFECT: cabergoline reduced permeability of the hematoretinal barrier and retinal thickness both in healthy rats and in experimental diabetic retinopathy.
