FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to densitometers of hydrostatic type, which enable to measure density of liquids in vertical wells, and can be used to control density of gas-saturated emulsion explosive (EE) in vertical wells before explosion. Method for controlling density of emulsion explosive or other liquids in vertical wells involves measuring pressure at different levels in a controlled environment, for this purpose, a measuring probe is placed in a controlled medium, having sensitive elements located one above the other at a known fixed distance, which are elastic chambers connected by means of pneumatic hoses and system of valves with a pressure gauge and an air pump, by means of an air pump a series of compressed air injections into the elastic chambers with short pulses for sudden increase of pressure alternately in the lower and upper elastic chamber, fixing the pressure in each chamber when equilibrium with the controlled medium is achieved and the density of the emulsion explosive in the well is calculated from the difference of the measured pressures in the lower and upper sensitive elements; as well as device for method implementation.

EFFECT: technical result is high accuracy of density measurements, and simultaneously significant simplification of device design.
