FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing citrate plasticiser of PVC using by-products of the production of fusel oil and still residue of rectification of 2-ethylhexanol (COREG) as raw material. Method of producing a citrate plasticiser by esterification of citric acid with alcohols is characterized by the fact that for esterification of citric acid an alcohol fraction is used, obtained either from fusel oil by fractional distillation at atmospheric pressure and temperature of 95–145 °C with isovaline alcohol content of 85–99 wt%, or from still residue of rectification of 2-ethylhexanol by fractional distillation at pressure of 8–14 mm Hg and a vapor temperature of 60–155 °C with 2-ethylhexanol content of 45–75 wt%, wherein the esterification process is carried out by boiling atmospheric pressure mixture of a mixture of citric acid and an alcohol fraction taken in an amount which provides a molar ratio of citric acid and alcohols of 1:3.2–5.0, with simultaneous distillation of the water released during the reaction in the form of an azeotrope, first without catalyst, and after slowing down reaction rate in presence of catalyst in amount of 0.05–2.5 wt% of the weight of citric acid until the acid number of the reaction mass is equal to 1–5 mg KOH/g, followed by distillation of unreacted compounds at low pressure, neutralization and extraction of the product.

EFFECT: technical result consists in expansion of raw materials base of alcohols for production of cheap citrate plasticisers, in qualified recycling of industrial wastes.
