FIELD: environmental protection.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to environmental protection. Disclosed is a method for detoxification of aqueous media contaminated with graphene oxide. Kaolin is mixed with contaminated aqueous medium in weight ratio of kaolin : aqueous medium = 1:(50–500) exposed to ultrasound to form a homogeneous suspension with pH equal to 4–6 for 2 minutes. Suspension is stirred for 30 minutes, kaolin is separated with adsorbed graphene oxide from purified aqueous medium by centrifugation.
EFFECT: invention enables to eliminate toxicity of the purified medium using an environmentally friendly natural sorbent.
