FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to acrylic polymers which are suitable for transdermal application. Described is a drug delivery composition comprising (A) a random copolymer obtained by combining (i) a first monomer which is butyl acrylate monomer, 2-ethylhexyl acrylate monomer, octyl acrylate with monomer or isooctyl acrylate with a monomer, and (ii) at least 18 wt. % of the weight of the random copolymer of the second monomer which is methyl methacrylate monomer, butyl methacrylate or isobutyl methacrylate, in the presence of a polymerisation initiator and optionally an organic solvent, (B) a therapeutic agent and (C) optionally at least one ingredient selected from a group consisting of an enhancer, a plasticiser, a tackifier, a viscosity modifier, excipient, a solvent, an emollient, an anti-irritant, a clouding agent, a pigment and a preserving agent, wherein the therapeutic agent is dissolved in a random copolymer. Also described is an adhesive.
EFFECT: technical result is reduction of plasticiser content with acceptable shear force and low temperature properties for polymer used in transdermal application.
