SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a dispensing mechanism for an aerosol-forming article, comprising: an expandable buffer tank (16) with an inlet and an outlet; dispensing reservoir (2) of constant volume with inlet opening and outlet opening; inlet valve (18), connected to the expandable buffer tank (16) inlet opening and configured to be connected to the liquid storage compartment (6) filled with the pressurized liquid so that the liquid can flow only from the liquid storage compartment (6) to the expandable buffer tank (16); outlet valve (8) connecting the outlet of the expandable buffer tank (16) to dispensing tank (2) inlet so that the liquid can flow only from the expandable buffer tank (16) to dispensing reservoir (2); and volume regulator (4) configured to control the volume of the expandable buffer tank, wherein expansion of the volume of the expandable buffer tank (16) to the expanded volume results in drawing liquid from liquid storage (6) into the expandable buffer tank (16) until expanded volume of expandable buffer tank (16) is completely filled with liquid, and compression of expanded volume of expandable buffer tank (16) leads to displacement of liquid from expandable buffer tank (16) into dispensing reservoir (2) until dispensing reservoir (2) is completely filled with liquid. Besides, dispensing reservoir (2) is made with possibility to release liquid contained in it during one tightening performed by user.
