FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to extraction of copper (II) ions from copper-ammonium solutions. Proposed are an extraction method and an extractant for implementing the method. Invention provides for treatment of copper-ammonium aqueous solutions with extractant, which is a solution β-diketone of general formula 5-alkylheptanedione-2,4, where the alkyl group contains from one to ten carbon atoms, or a solution of the mixture of said β-diketones in an organic solvent which is immiscible with water and which is a paraffin of fractions C14-C17. Content β-diketones is 10–70 vol%.

EFFECT: invention provides an increase in the degree of extraction of copper by increasing the capacity of the extractant while eliminating the transfer of ammonium ions from copper-ammonium solutions.
