FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy. Method of making a steel element comprises steps of carburising the steel element. Carburisation, pearlitizing of austenite and hardening of the steel element are carried out, wherein pearlitizing of the austenite includes a first treatment for separating perlite, performed by cooling the steel member to a first temperature which is lower than the temperature of the beginning of the austenitic transformation and higher than 680 °C, and holding the steel member at a first temperature to pearlitizing part of the austenite obtained during the cementing of the steel member and a second pearlite separation treatment performed by further cooling the steel member to a second temperature which is equal to or less than 680 °C and higher than "nose" temperature, and holding the steel member at a second temperature to pearlitizing the austenite remaining after the first pearlite separation treatment.
EFFECT: high fatigue strength of the steel member.
