FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: pearlite rail is obtained by performing at least rough hot rolling and final hot rolling of bloom containing the following, wt %: C - 0.65-1.20, Si - 0.05-2.00, Mn - 0.05-2.00, iron and impurities are the rest; at that, final hot rolling is performed at surface temperature of rail head within not more than 900°C to not less than Ar3 conversion temperature or Arcm conversion temperature till total decrease of surface area of rail head is not less than 20% and relative counter-force is not less than 1.25. Rail head surface subject to final hot rolling is subject to quick cooling to the temperature of not more than 590°C with cooling rate of 2 to 30°C/sec.
EFFECT: improving wear resistance and ductility of rail, providing hardness of rail head within specified limits.
