SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of power engineering. Method for determining, in a heating appliance, whether ignition of a mixture of fluid fuel and air has the following stages: supplying electric ignition signal to measuring circuit; filtering the combustion signal from the ignition signal; comparison of detected combustion signal with specified profile; and determining that the expected combustion signal has occurred for a predetermined period of time. Filtered combustion signal is amplified. Predetermined period of time starts at the moment of starting, which is obtained from the combustion signal.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to control ignition of fuel and air mixture.
