FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: fault diagnosis system for an exhaust gas cleaning device diagnoses faults of the SCR catalyst based on concentration of ammonia in the exhaust gases in the region downstream of the SCR catalyst. System includes a first evaluation module configured to estimate the amount of ammonia adsorbed in the SCR catalyst in a faulty state (adsorbed amount of ammonia in a faulty state), and a second evaluation module configured to estimate the amount of ammonia adsorbed in the SCR catalyst in the normal state (adsorbed amount of ammonia in the normal state). When performing diagnostics of SCR-catalyst faults, the system supplies the reducing agent in such a way as to set the adsorbed amount of ammonia in the faulty state greater than the first preset adsorbed amount equal to or greater than the adsorbed amount to start out in the faulty state, and to set the adsorbed amount of ammonia in the normal state less than the second predetermined adsorbed amount equal to or less than the adsorbed amount to start the normal output.
EFFECT: fault diagnosis system is proposed.
