FIELD: ecology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ecology and can be used for identification of source and time of environment contamination with dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) in the Far North regions. That is ensured by taking representative samples of human soil, water, blood or human milk. Samples are analysed and quantified DDT and its metabolites – dichlorodiphenyldichloroethylene (DDE) and dichlorodiphenyldichloroethane (DDD). Obtained data are processed by statistical methods for comparison of their content with sanitary-and-hygienic and environmental standards, as well as evaluation of their relative content in samples. In case of content DDT in soil and / or water above maximum allowable concentration source of contamination is point; with content DDT in soil and / or water below maximum allowable concentration, source of contamination is diffuse. With content DDT and its metabolites DDE and DDD in soil, water, blood and / or human milk samples in ratio DDT/(DDE+DDD)>1, DDT/DDE>1 or only DDT, time interval from the moment of contamination is less than 1 year. In case of content DDT and its metabolites DDE and DDD in ratio DDT/(DDE+DDD)<1 or DDT/DDE<1, time interval from the moment of contamination exceeds 1 year.
EFFECT: invention enables to identify source and time of pesticide contamination DDT for taking preventive and / or restorative measures to reduce environmental pollution and negative impact DDT on the human body.
