FIELD: petroleum chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to petrochemical synthesis and specifically to a method of producing calcium stearate used as a stabilizer of plastic mixtures based on polyvinyl chloride, perchlorovinyl resin and artificial leather. Besides, calcium stearate is used as a siccative in production of paint materials and as a lubricant for processing of many plastics. Method of producing involves reaction of stearic acid and calcium carbonate in the form of ground chalk and in the presence of an activator – an aqueous ammonia solution. Process is carried out with heating and intensive stirring, followed by extraction of the ready product using known methods. Reaction of stearic acid, ammonia, calcium carbonate is carried out in an aqueous medium while heating to 65–70 °C and continuously stirring, held at this temperature for 40–60 minutes.
EFFECT: method allows to expand raw material base and reduce the cost of the process.
