FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processing of distillation liquid formed in production of calcined soda by ammonia method, and a method of producing calcium stearate used to stabilize polyvinyl chloride-based plastic mixtures, perchlorovinyl resin and artificial leather, in the production of paint materials. Besides, calcium stearate is used as a siccative in production of paint materials and as a lubricant for processing of many plastics. Method of producing calcium stearate involves reacting stearic acid, ammonia and waste from production of calcined soda which contains 106.2 g/dm3 CaCl2, 59.35 g/dm3 NaCl, 1.66 g/dm3 Ca(OH)2, 0.58 g/dm3 CaSO4, pH of which is 11.1. Process is carried out with heating and intensive stirring, followed by filtration, washing and drying the residue. Reaction of stearic acid, ammonia and the distillation liquid is carried out in an aqueous medium while heating 65–70 °C and continuously stirring, held at this temperature for 20–30 minutes, then filtered, the calcium stearate precipitate is washed with water until a negative reaction to chlorides and dried by hot air at temperature of 80 °C.
EFFECT: disclosed method enables to recycle wastes from production of calcined soda and can be used to produce calcium stearate.
