FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: process is carried out by reacting stearic acid and calcium hydroxide in the presence of solvent, acetone or aqueous acetone mixture containing at least 25 wt % of acetone, used in 4-6 fold excessive amount with respect to weight of stearic acid at stearic acid to calcium hydroxide equimolar ratio at 40-50 C and isolating the product by well known procedures.
