SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of rolling. Rolled material (3) is directed through roll gap (11) between two working rolls (9, 10) of rolling mill (1) and into contact zone (15, 16), in which contact surface (17, 18) of rolled material (3) abuts on working roll (9, 10), lubricant-coolant is applied for lubrication of contact zone (15, 16). Further, the need for lubrication of contact zone (15, 16) is determined depending on at least one process parameter of the rolling process, and before roll gap (11) at preset distance (D) of application on contact surface (17, 18) of rolled material (3) additional lubricant is applied, if the amount (C) of the lubricant-coolant introduced into contact zone (15, 16) does not cover the need for lubrication. At that, application distance (D) is selected so that adhesion of additional lubricant with contact surface (17, 18) is increased, and the lubrication effect in contact zone (15, 16) is improved compared to the application immediately before roll gap (11). Besides, quantity (C) of lubricant-coolant introduced into contact zone (15, 16) decreases when additional lubricant is applied on contact surface (17, 18).

EFFECT: invention enables to increase lubrication efficiency.
