FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device for monitoring an oil thermostat located in an oil circulating circuit of an internal combustion engine. Device includes sensor device (4, 14b, 15), which is arranged to determine at least one first parameter, allowing to draw a conclusion about current rated operating mode of oil thermostat (10), and to determine at least one second parameter, which enables to draw a conclusion about current actual operating mode of oil thermostat (10). Device also includes device (40) of analytical data processing, which is made so that depending on the first parameter and the second parameter to detect occurrence of operating error of oil thermostat (10).

EFFECT: invention provides higher reliability of faults detection or oil thermostat functioning error.
