FIELD: identification of composition of multicomponent gas mixtures. SUBSTANCE: identification of gases is carried out with the aid of metal-oxide semiconductor catalytic thermochemical sensor with source photoexcitation cyclically heated at two different speeds. Present values of thermal power of heater, temperature and conductance of gas-sensitive layer in gas mixtures containing gases unknown beforehand are measured in presence of photoexcitation synchronized with heating cycles. Measured values are processed by computer with the use of numerical methods. Activation energy and temperature of special points are found and compared with reference data of calibrated gas mixtures measured in advance and related to particular or similar facility. Their coincidence enables composition of gas mixture to be identified. Investigations are repeated with given sensor, if necessary, employing different levels of photoexcitation, separable gas filters with known filtering properties. Thermal spectra and energy are analyzed again to define more exactly chemical nature of gases.
