SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing multicomponent aerosol-forming articles, wherein each aerosol-forming article defines a longitudinal axis and comprises N components in-series connected along a longitudinal axis, where N is an integer greater than or equal to 2, wherein method includes: providing transporting means for transportation of components of articles forming an aerosol in a direction of transportation, wherein in the transporting means are formed seats along the transportation direction; feeding into carrier sockets of first component for each article forming an aerosol by placing first components one after another along transportation direction so that their longitudinal axes are parallel to each other; checking each socket for said first component; connection of the second component to the first component in longitudinal axial direction in the made seat only in the presence of the first component in the made seat.
