SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to an overflow cover for a filter assembly and a filter assembly, comprising a bypass cover, and can be used to separate fluids in different fluid systems, for example, in internal combustion engines. Filter assembly comprises a housing having a longitudinal axis, a filter element inserted into the housing and comprising a filter material capable of separating a first fluid from a second fluid having properties different from those of the first fluid when fluid passes through a filtration material. Besides, the filter includes the first end cover connected to the first end of the filtration material, the second end cover connected to the second end of the filtration material, and the tubular element stretching between the first and the second end covers. Tubular element includes several holes. Filtration material extends between first end cap and second end cap and around tubular element outer surface. Filter also includes a bypass cover connected to the first end face cover of the filter element, having essentially a circular section perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the bypass cover. Bypass cover includes an inlet portion capable of providing fluid communication between the inlet of the filter base and the tubular element of the filter element, and an outlet portion capable of providing fluid communication between the outlet of the filter base and the outer portion of the filter element. Inlet section of the bypass cover and the output section of the bypass cover are located in different positions in circumferential direction relative to the central part of the bypass cover. Method of separating a first fluid from a second fluid having properties other than a first fluid comprises providing an assembly, fluid supply from the inlet of the filter base into the bypass cover, direction of fluid medium supplied from inlet to inner part of filtering element through bypass cover, direction of fluid medium from inside part of filter element to filtration material of filtering element. Filtration material is capable of separating the first fluid from the second fluid when fluid flows through the filtration material into the outer part of the filter element. Separation method also includes the direction of the first fluid medium from the external part of the filtering element to the outlet hole of the filter base through the bypass cover and the direction of at least part of the second fluid medium from the filtration material to the accumulating bowl. Direction of fluid medium supplied from inlet into inner part of filtering element includes direction of fluid medium to central part of bypass cover. Direction of fluid medium from external part of filtering element to outlet hole of filter base includes direction of fluid medium, in fact, to central part of bypass cover.
EFFECT: technical result of group of inventions is improvement of process of water separation from fuel, as well as higher reliability of engines.
