FIELD: mining.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to diamond mining. Method for identifying presence of partially released diamonds in a stream of material includes the following operations: lighting material with a beam of multi-wave radiation, which includes at least one beam of monochromatic short-wave infrared (SWIR) of laser radiation and at least one infrared laser beam partially dissipated by the material. Part of at least one beam of monochromatic radiation is received SWIR-laser after said beam has been reflected or scattered by the material, forming SWIR-signal corresponding to the received part of at least one beam of monochromatic radiation SWIR-laser. First part of at least one infrared laser beam partially dissipated by the material is received after said laser beam has been scattered and, optionally, is reflected by said material. Separating, with subsequent reception, reflected part of at least one IR laser beam, partially dissipated by material, after said laser beam has been reflected by said material from part of said at least one infrared laser beam, which is partially scattered by the material, after said laser beam has been scattered by the material. Infrared scattering signal is generated on the basis of the received first part of at least one infrared laser beam partially dissipated by the material. IR reflection signal is generated on the basis of the received reflected part of at least one infrared laser beam partially dissipated by the material. Material is classified as containing diamond under condition of presence of diamond identifier in combination SWIR an infrared signal and an infrared scattering signal.
EFFECT: technical result is to increase the reliability of detecting diamonds.
