FIELD: transportation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to transport equipment, in more detail to devices and methods of controlling engine, suppressing vibration occurring in vehicle during termination and during subsequent resumption of fuel supply to engine. According to invention, it is determined whether predetermined condition of fuel supply termination is satisfied or not; controlling vibration suppression during termination, after stopping fuel supply in response to meeting a predetermined fuel shutoff condition, for temporary execution of fuel supply to engine in order to suppress vehicle vibration, it is performed and fuel supply to all cylinders is stopped after control of vibration suppression during termination. When controlling vibration suppression during termination, it is determined whether or not the first predetermined number of cylinders is performed according to the engine rpm or the gear ratio from the engine to the driving wheels of the combustion stroke after stopping the fuel supply, and if the first predetermined number of cylinders executes the combustion stroke, supply of fuel to the second predetermined number of cylinders is performed. First predetermined number increases as the engine rpm becomes higher and increases as the gear ratio from the engine to the drive wheels becomes higher.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of damping of vibrations arising as a result of sudden increase of torque during termination and during subsequent resumption of fuel supply to engine.
