FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method for detecting hidden objects on a human body involves detecting intrinsic heat radiation (HR) of human in terahertz range of electromagnetic waves with subsequent digital processing of analyzed HR image. A set of standards is formed, each of which includes: HR is an image of a concealed dangerous object; contour preparation (CSP image) of this HR image; binary black-and-white template of this HR image; turned and mirror images versions HR image, CSP image and a binary pattern HR image. Detecting hidden objects on presented (analyzed) HR-images are carried out by comparing analyzed HR-images with standards, for which points of local maximums of the cross-correlation function are determined, calculating the mutual information value in said points of local maxima of the cross-correlation function, determining the maximum value of mutual information among the calculated values, and presence of latent object on image is established by comparing calculated maximum value of mutual information with preset threshold value.

EFFECT: improved quality of recognition of objects hidden on the human body, as well as reduced computational costs by eliminating the stage of formation of feature descriptions of images of objects, eliminating the learning phase of the recognition algorithm and reducing the number of positions on the analyzed image, in which the mutual information value is calculated.
