FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to paediatrics and pediatric cardiology, and can be used for prediction of hemodynamically significant functioning arterial duct (HSFAD) in premature newborns. For this purpose, the premature newborn blood serum by enzyme immunoassay is used to determine the level of the N-terminal fragment of the medullary natriuretic peptide (NT-pro BNP) precursor and calculate the probability coefficient HSFAD by formula:

where P is probability in % HSFAD; e is base of natural logarithm equal to 2.7; X is NT-pro BNP of specific patient in pg/ml. If P is equal to or more than 50 %, conclusion is made on availability HSFAD, and less than 50 % – absence HSFAD.
EFFECT: invention provides objectification of the method, as well as high accuracy of prediction HSFAD and prescribing timely treatment by using a quantitative prediction criterion.
