FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to paediatrics and neonatology, and can be used to predict the risk of neurological deficiency in extremely premature and very low birth weight infants with functioning ductus arteriosus. A base deficiency (BE) index is determined by acid-base balance immediately after birth; in first 48 hours after birth, a cardio-thoracic index (CTI) is determined, at 48-72 hours of life, the end diastolic size (EDS), the EDS index, thickness of the anterior wall of the right ventricle (TAWRV) are determined. Based on the obtained data, a probability of the risk of developing a neurological deficit (Y) is determined by a given formula. If the Y value is more than 40%, a high risk of developing a neurological deficit is predicted.
EFFECT: method provides the possibility of timely selection of a complex of therapeutic measures corresponding to the severity of brain damage, which enables to improve the quality of life of deeply premature infants by increasing the accuracy of predicting the risk of developing neurological deficiency in the given group of children by assessing the set of the most significant indicators.
