FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to piston compressors, particularly, to oil-free reciprocating compressors for rail vehicles. Compressor comprises at least one cylinder to compress air with piston arranged therein to displace in compression chamber located above piston in cylinder. Compression chamber is connected to inlet layout for compressed air and to outlet layout for compressed air. Compressor is driven by first drive. Inlet layout has a preliminary compression device, which is driven by a second drive device with possibility of varying power, which serves to increase suction pressure at the air inlet.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of energy use and specific power.
