FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical engineering of fibrous materials and relates to self-crimped band-like fibre and non-woven materials made from said fibre. Spunbond bicomponent fibre comprises: a first polymer component; second polymer component, which form a bicomponent spunbond fibre, having a ribbon-like shape with a cross-section side-by-side structure. Self-crimped bicomponent spunbond fibre is produced by subjecting bicomponent spunbond fibre to thermal energy or mechanical force. Self-crimped bicomponent spunbond fibre comprises a compact structure which resists compression in such a way that fibre maintains volume, wherein difference between melting points of first polymer component and second polymer component is at most about 15 °C. There are also created nonwoven materials made from such band-like, multicomponent fibres or filaments.

EFFECT: invention provides creation of self-friction bicomponent fibre and spunbond nonwoven material made from such fibres, which resist compression, while preserving some of advantages of high dimensionality even under load.
