FIELD: radar ranging and radio navigation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of radar ranging and can be used in radar stations for reconnaissance of enemy firing positions. Said result is achieved due to that device for determining duration of tracking interval comprises ADC unit, smoothing unit, time calculation unit, first threshold device, second threshold device, a comparison device, a unit for calculating parameters and a unit for calculating observation time, which are connected to each other in a certain manner. Said technical solution makes it possible to take into account additional features when determining the duration of the tracking interval of the target, which enables to more accurately determine the time required for monitoring the target, which increases accuracy of determining coordinates of fire positions. Such features are: quality of radar tracking, determined from the value of the signal-to-noise ratio measured, while tracking the radar projectile, as well as the value of the current angle of inclination of the projectile velocity vector to the horizon plane. Possibility of achieving the technical result is explained by the fact that all main factors affecting the obtaining of the required number of coordinates of the target (projectile on the trajectory) coordinates are taken into account.
