FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to experimental medicine and to optical diagnostics, and can be used for examination of functional state of glymphatic system in vivo. Method is realized by optical coherence tomography. Method consists in introduction of gold nanorods into investigated area, registration of tomographic signal before introduction of gold nanorods and after and evaluation of state of glymphatic system. Region of the brain localized in the sagittal sinus region is selected as the examined region. Size of the nanorods is selected with an average diameter of base of 16±3 nm and an average length of 92±17 nm to ensure the best match of the maximum value of the extinction coefficient of gold nanorods with the central wavelength of the radiation which forms the tomographic signal. Gold nanorods are inserted at rate of 0.1 mcl/min. Evaluation of the state of the glymphatic system is carried out by the difference of the tomographic signal before the introduction of the gold nanorods and after, as well as by the dynamics of change in the speckle structures occurring after the nanorods introduction.

EFFECT: method provides imaging of the cerebral glymphatic system in vivo, enables evaluating their functional state without disturbing the normal functioning of the glymphatic system by adding gold nanorods to the sagittal sinus.
