SUBSTANCE: invention pertains to nano and biomedical engineering. The method involves probing bulk material containing nanoparticles with optical radiation using a low-coherent optical tomograph, measurement of the size of the focal spot of the probing beam D and longitudinal coherence length ΔLC, determination of coherence volume ΔVc=πD2ΔLc/4, obtaining a digital two-dimensional image, each pixel of which is proportional to the intensity of reverse-reflected radiation from the coherence volume, by scanning the probing beam in two transverse coordinates at fixed longitudinal optical length in the reference arm of the interferometre of the tomograph, or one of the transverse coordinates of the probing beam, and the longitudinal coordinate in the reference arm. A sample image is obtained by fixed dilution of a solution with nanoparticles. An area is marked out on the two-dimensional image S and concentration of nanoparticles in unit volume V, is determined from the number of reflecting pixels with intensity greater than the noise level from the marked out area.
EFFECT: possibility of determining spatial distribution of nanoparticles in a volume, as well as the behaviour dynamics of nanoparticles when investigating diffusion or clustering and settling processes.
