FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing tetramethyl orthosilicate, which is carried out in a flow-cascade type reactor, by synthesis from silica-containing material and methyl alcohol, in which a catalyst is dissolved, wherein the water formed from the reaction is removed from the reaction mixture by means of a cartridge with a drying agent. Method avoids formation of oligomers and subsequent deposition of amorphous SiO2 on walls of equipment, involves exclusion of power-consuming stage of recovery of silica to metal silicon and ensures ecological purity of production due to absence of halogens in production.
EFFECT: obtaining tetramethyl orthosilicate from silica-bearing material and methanol using the disclosed method with achieving high concentration of the product in the reaction mixture.
