FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radiometry. Method of radiation inspection of artificial reservoirs includes the steps of selecting a small-size unmanned aerial vehicle containing a device for detecting dose rate of gamma-radiation, by means of which a selected artificial reservoir is scanned. Information on increase in dose rate of gamma-radiation and location of areas, presumably containing nuclear materials, is transmitted to operator's automated workstation. Above-water drone apparatus is used, which comprises a system of sonars and a point semiconductor detector of gamma radiation, which does not require cooling with liquid nitrogen and is capable of operating in strong radiation fields. Above-water drone is placed above selected section of artificial reservoir and using system of sonars remotely determine boundaries of location of nuclear materials by ultrasonic echolocation. Simultaneously, in standby mode of unmanned above-water vehicle, gamma spectrum is collected. Collected gamma-ray spectrum is transmitted to an automated operator workstation in order to analyze the obtained spectrum and confirm the presence of nuclear materials on the characteristic spectral lines.
EFFECT: high efficiency and shorter time for radiation scanning of storages of liquid and solid radioactive wastes of large area.
