FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method for determining location of the point gamma-ray source on the ground is to measure the dose rates of the gamma- ray during the flight, herewith the measurement is performed by the gamma-ray detector with the collimator in the form of a circular conical slit placed on the basis of the unmanned aircraft, in three successive stages : vertical take-off of the aircraft at the determined point on the ground to the height at which the radiation sensor is triggered, followed by the geometric determination of the area in the form of a ring centered at the take-off point; the second take-off from any point inside the first ring with the repetition of all operations of the first stage and the geometric definition of the intersection points of the two rings; approaching at low altitude to one of the points identified in the second stage for the exact determination of the source location on the ground.
EFFECT: increased search efficiency of the point source ionizing radiation on the large territory.
