SUBSTANCE: invention relates to audio decoding and is intended for selection of procedure for masking packet loss when decoding audio. Given method and the device select a procedure for masking packet loss for the lost audio frame of the received audio signal. Method of selecting a packet loss masking procedure comprises detecting the type of an audio received audio frame and determining a packet loss masking procedure based on the audio type. In the method, audio type detection comprises determining spectrum envelope response of received audio frames.
EFFECT: selection of PLC procedure providing the best audio quality.
