FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in electrothermics. Sealed reaction chamber consists of cover 1 and housing 2 with water cooling jackets 3 and 4 connected by flange connection 5. Air is pumped from the chamber, after which helium is introduced into it. On inclined fixed electrodes 6 attached to bottom of housing 2 through electrically insulated current leads 7, current is supplied through contact line 17 with negative polarity. Movable electrode 8 is attached to cover 1 through electrically insulated current lead 11 and is made in form of cone-shaped element 8 with tiers arranged on several levels of graphite rods 10 of different length, installed in electrical connectors 9. Rods 10 of lower tier have longer length than rods 10 of tier located higher. Moving electrode 8 equipped with mechanism 12 of vertical reciprocation relative to electrodes 6 is supplied by contact line 16 with positive polarity. At approach to distance of discharge gap between lower tier of graphite rods 10 and fixed inclined electrodes 6 electric arcs are formed, as a result of which there is burning of graphite rods 10 and evaporation of carbon with formation of fullerene-containing soot, which is cleaned from inner surface of housing 2, from fixed electrodes 6 and through taps 13 is directed into container 15 for collection of fullerene-containing soot, attached by flange connections 14.

EFFECT: higher efficiency of the process.
