FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to control sedimentation and electric state of atmosphere in high-risk areas, such as cosmodromes, nuclear stations, airlines, etc., where special protection against lightning discharges is required. Lightning discharges in thunderstorm clouds are initiated by adding to them by means of aircrafts – rockets or projectiles – lightning arresters in the form of separate unfolded and oriented in cloud medium electric wires. First, by radar sounding of a thunderstorm cloud, a zone of lightning discharge formation is detected in it, which is limited by an external contour by radar reflectivity of 40 dBz, located between temperature levels from - 5 °C to - 30 °C. Then, in the direction of the central part of this zone, an aircraft is launched. At motion of flying vehicle along flight trajectory by means of on-board instruments intensity of electric field is measured. When aircraft enters zone of cloud medium with intensity of electric field of 3 kV/cm and higher, lightning arresters are shot to cloud medium at speed 60 meters per second and higher.

EFFECT: enabling the lightning initiation efficiency due to the lightning discharger oriented movement.
